Welcome

Swiss Cottage is an ideal location from which to explore the many delights of the north west. There are historic castles, ruined abbeys and churches, rugged mountains, lakes of all sizes, rivers teeming with fish for the anglers, woodland and forest, small harbours and enormous sandy beaches - not to mention an abundance of wildlife and archaeology galore!

The house has stood in the beautiful Glencar valley for more than a hundred years. The boundary of counties Sligo and Leitrim cross the valley which is home to the much visited Glencar Lake and Waterfall and the Glencar Tea Rooms which are all within walking distance. The burial place of the great Irish poet W.B Yeats is a short distance away in Drumcliffe.

It is a south-facing detached property offering accommodation for 6 with a travel cot available for infants. On a sunny day (not that infrequent - look at the photographs!) you can sit outside and enjoy views of the mountains to the north and south. If it's feeling cooler, you might like to light the wood-burning stove and enjoy those same views in comfort. Alternatively, you may prefer to light the fire in the sitting room and curl up with a book (there are lots to choose from!)

The property was given a makeover at the end of 2017.  Most of the sitting room furniture was replaced and the master bedroom has a new king size bed with a luxury deep mattress.  The mattress in the downstairs bedroom was also replaced.  New carpets were fitted throughout the house and the whole house inside was painted.
